Demographics

A Demographics and Needs Profile for Glasgow City (2023) has been developed to support staff, managers and partners is assessing needs and in the planning, development and delivery of services for the people of Glasgow. It contains the latest information available at the time of writing and includes general population estimates, as well as population projections. It also includes a profile of health in the city with information on life expectancy and mortality; patterns of illness and disease; and factors that impact upon health and wellbeing, including lifestyles, social capital, deprivation, education and employment.

This year, following feedback received upon previous Profiles, a Summary Document has been produced for the first time, alongside the Full Profile. Work is also underway to make the Full Profile web based, which will allow users to navigate quickly and more easily around the different categories of information which most interests them. This will be available from the HSCP website once this work has been completed. 

The Demographics and Needs Profile for Glasgow (2023) is also accompanied by an Excel spreadsheet, which contains all tables, sources and links for ease of downloading data or tables directly.
